The Latest in Bridezilla Land
Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of, “how’s wedding planning going?” And it’s a funny little question to answer because it’s going well, but sometimes I cry because of things I thought I would never cry about. Most of the big decisions are made. But there are seriously so many choices to make. So many things to think through. I have felt just unhinged a few times. Things that are not a big deal, or are surmountable issues, have been toppling.
I’m looking forward to being in the celebrating portion of engagement and hopefully closer to the of the decision making portion. But maybe it’s all always decision making time.
Anyway, that’s how wedding planning is going.
I’m feeling a bit in a rut writing-wise. When I used to surf the New Yorker for a thoughtful article, I am weighing the ease of doing my invitations through Minted vs the cost of going the Canva-FedEx route. The time I used to spend reading interesting books, I now use to scroll “ways to save money on your wedding” reels that all tell me to just print my invitations at FedEx. So I’m leaning Minted.
All of that to say this issue is a little product-y.
I hope this week is beautiful for you!
Number One: These Flare Yoga Pants
Don’t know how I found these originally but they’re great flare pants if your pants from 2011 aren’t high rise enough. I like them, they’re flattering. They’re great weekend pants. Plus the pants are pretty cheap!
Number Two: OPI 75
Since becoming a betrothed woman, I’ve become more of a nails girl, trying to lock down my shade of red, my shade of pink, my bridal nails; just girly things. I’ve been liking OPI 75 for red. A great classic, bright red.
Number Three: This J. Crew Sweater
Instagram ads recently bamboozled me into purchasing this sweater. It’s oh-so soft, and the light blue really makes me look tan. The tanning drops I use help too. But it’s a fabulous normal sweater if you are in the market.
Here’s the thing: I haven’t even had instagram on my phone for like a month. The reels about saving money on your wedding invitations just got to me. But this app still has such a chokehold on my life.
Number Four: Is it over now?
Every time Taylor Swift releases an album I think, “I’m good. I won’t hyper-focus on this one, I’ve done my time.” Then a song like “Is it over now?” Rolls around and I find myself longing just a little bit to be heartbroken. Like not really. But to have access to those emotions, sometimes it’s a gift. But of course, wouldn’t trade it. But you know what I mean?
Number Five: Blue Nile
This week we went to Blue Nile in the River Market with a couple in our life group and my soul was truly warmed. Like just the way the food was spiced. Perfection. I love Ethiopian food. I love eating with my hands. I love that I’m never 100% sure exactly what I’m eating, but I know that I like it.
