Do I like Succession or do I just like the idea of Succession?
I clicked on one (1) Instagram ad for those shoes that are like barefoot adjacent. The kind with zero heel-toe drop and a wide toe box. And now I am being HAUNTED by ads for wide shoes.
Anyway. I think I liked Succession. I still do. It’s just that nothing happens. And granted, last week, something big happened. But we’re three episodes in to this season and one thing has happened. Where’s Kendall rapping? Where is Logan’s wife?
I will be tuning in.
Chris and I went to Affare Friday night. According to Chris, the fudge at Buc-Ee’s is better, but overall a grand patio time.
As usual, I wrote this sentence that contains a link to my instagram. My Nuuly referral link. My Outdoor Voices link.
Number One: Is there life after Influencing?
I thought this was an interesting article about what it’s like to transition away from influencing, and the micro culture around de-influencing. It’s a little tongue-in-cheek. But in the positive.
I find the world of influencers morbidly fascinating. Especially influencers who have built a brand on being relatable, but have reaching un-relatable success and wealth.
Number Two: Pitt’s Nationality rooms
This week, I found myself thinking about how at the University of Pittsburgh, in the Cathedral of Learning (the second tallest academic building in the world), there are the Nationality Rooms. The Nationality Rooms are this series of classrooms decorated, ornately, in the style of various nationalities. It’s the opposite of the corporate campus I went to for grad school. Cathy is a beautiful building in general. The best BEST fireplaces I’ve ever seen.
Number Three: The Second Floor of the SUB
Speaking of college campuses. The thing I miss most about Baylor, other than my friends, other than RUF, but more than Shorty’s Pizza Shack, although it’s close. Is the second floor of the Student Union Building. Or is it the first floor and Einstein is in the basement? Or is the bowling alley the basement? Is the SUB a raised ranch?
Anyway, the second floor of the SUB has one big like ballroom where they used to host Dr. Pepper Hour, and the big Christmas tree is usually right outside of there. And then down the hall are these little rooms furnished elegantly and comfortably that are just the perfect place to nap in between classes. The bathroom on this floor is also the best pooping bathroom on Baylor’s campus. Oh I miss that place.
Number Four: Washing sheets in hot water
My friends Morgan and Scott guest wrote Five Things about a year ago, and she had some amazing tips about seasonal allergies. “If you taste it, you waste it,” has really stuck with me re: Flonase.
The other bit that I think of at least weekly is washing your sheets in hot water. Allergies Game Changer. Skincare Game Changer. I think shrinking some Comfort Colors tees on accident in college really scared me away from washing things in hot water, but sheets, boil those things. It’s really something.
Number Five: Sephora Sale starts this week
Now is the time to stock up on Clinique Moisture Surge, Drunk Elephant Cleanse, Ordinary Lactic Acid, Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid, Drunk Elephant Retinoid, Sunday Riley Vitamin C Serum, Isle of Paradise self tanning drops, Super Goop Unseen Sunscreen, and the little razors to shave your mustache.
