Two quick things:
Today was a great day. Writing this as I watch Survivor. I’m going to take Honey on an evening walk.
a) This sentence was written before Honey rolled in something dead, had whatever animal parts caught in her fur, and stunk up the house. Still a great day. If anyone wants a dog, lmk. House trained but throws up occasionally. Comes with pricey, salmon-based food I got bamboozled into buying.
If we have discussed you guest writing this newsletter in the future, or if you are interested in guest writing Five Things, can you get in touch me before Wednesday?
Today was just a day of answered prayers, and I’m grateful.
This sentence now has links to the my instagram, and old issues of the newsletter. Also my Nuuly referral link. I hope today is beautiful for you.
Number One: This moving piece about escaping a Chinese Internment Camp
This illustrated first-hand account of a woman in China who escaped a Chinese Internment Camp won a well-deserved Pulitzer prize, and is absolutely worth your five minutes. It’s not a fun Sunday night read, but I think a small act of resistance to the Chinese government is being informed about what they’re doing, ya know?
Number Two: Hawaii Light Rail
If you enjoy reading about mis-managed infrastructure projects, may I suggest Honolulu Rail Transit Project?
Number Three: An easy to put together drying rack
My sister got married, and thusly moved out. The thing about roommates is that you sometimes get attached to things that were never yours to begin with. i.e. me and the laundry drying rack Laura brought into our lives and then just ripped out from under us.
After an afternoon of undue bitterness toward my sister, I ordered the exact same drying rack from Amazon. Sometimes I forget, it’s actually really easy to just buy the solution to my problem. Like I’m an adult with a job, I can buy things. Sometimes I need to remember that buying things doesn’t actually solve the real problem. It’s a perfectly adequate drying rack, but what I really loved what that it was so easy to put together! IKEA take notes!
Number Four: Defined dish meatballs on the reheat
These meatballs were good the first time I made them, but oh boy are they even better on the reheat. The recipe made more meatballs than a girl and her guests would ever need. So I froze them because my new passion is freezing leftovers (more on that later). These meatballs are divine from frozen in the cast iron with a little avocado or olive oil.
Number Five: Non-definitive ranking of Quirk flavors

Raspberry rocket pop
Flavors you drink next:
Pear Yuzu

Blueberry lemon and lavendar
Cherry blossom and lime
