Twice this week people have clapped for me
It’s starting to go straight to my head. My head could use it because Wednesday I bonked my head on the squat rack at the Y, and it was one of those, “am I ok?” bonks. Gym Crush 3.0 checked on me. As you may recall, GC 1.0 was lost to COVID (he could still be around, I just haven’t seen him). GC 2.0 is a) a touch too young and b) got too fit. GC 3.0 is age appropriate, and I know this because I saw him on Bumble.
Anyway, I had a great week, and I’m excited for all that April holds. More things to celebrate, more opportunities for applause. It’s going to be busy, but it’s going to be good.
Honey went to the groomer a few weeks ago, and they put a bow in her hair. It was the most hilarious thing. In four months this dog has gone from runaway ranch dog to living in the suburbs with two beds and a bow, and is now sort of prissy about water. Anything is possible!
This sentence now has links to the my instagram, and old issues of the newsletter. I hope today is beautiful for you. Also my Outdoor Voices link for Hannah.
Number One: Amazon Wigs
Last weekend I was in Bentonville, Arkansas for my sister’s bachelorette trip. It was the time of my life. The weekend was a total blast mostly because Laura is easy to celebrate and her friends are awesome. The secondary reason is that I bought these wigs from Amazon. The quality left a lot to be desired. I feel like my head isn’t big, but it’s not small, but the dark blue wig was laughably short on my head.
It was just fun. And I would do it again in a heartbeat. I’m already trying to organize just a girls dinner at like Brookside Barrio in these wigs.
Number Two: Loving Tan season
Three times in the last few weeks someone has texted me, “what’s that tanning lotion you like?” The answer: Loving Tan Two Hour Express. The set with the mitt is worth it, I use dark. It does smell weird, that’s part of the charm. I use this scrub to exfoliate. I am happy to send you a two minute long audio message on my directions for use, but there’s a ton of Youtube videos on the subject. As always, thank you to Laura for introducing me.
Number Three: “Above all else, a fun guy to hang out with.”
I loved this piece on an Italian man living with Progeria, an extremely rare and fatal disease.
In fact, Mr. Basso’s slight frame embodies a dizzying span of human experience. He is a young man who appears old, an adult sometimes patronized like a child. He is a scientist and a devout Catholic, a clinical trials patient and a researcher.
Mr. Basso often exhibits a drink-life-to-the-dregs wisdom far beyond his sped-up years. But spending a day with him in his family home in Tezze Sul Brenta reveals that he is, above all else, a fun guy to hang out with.
Number Four: Taylor Swift or Lamentations
This quiz is so funny to me.
Number Five: Mushroom soup
I made the Mushroom Soup in Comfortable Kitchen a few weeks ago. And I don’t think I’ve ever made anything that was better on the re-heat than this soup. It was so good. ESPECIALLY with the fancy black salt I bought for $16 sprinkled on top. Nom nom nom. So good. Similar recipe here.
